"the word-of-mouth survival guide for SAN FRANCISCO parents"

When my son was getting close to 40lbs I knew I needed a new car seat so I went looking and found the Apex. At the time it was one of the only other 5 point harness for 40 plus pounds besides Britax. I was not looking to spend 300.00 so I went with the Apex. I am truly not impressed, it is bulky and just feels cheap. Since buying it I bought the Graco Nautilus months later and LOVE the Graco!!!

I want my daughter in a 5 point car seat as long as possible, as they have been shown to be substantially safer than the booster seats so often used by children over 35 pounds. My daughter has a more expensive Britax Regent for the car she rides in most often, and for our other car we bought the Apex 65. When compared to a Regent, the un-installed Apex seems flimsier, however, when properly installed I have ever confidence that it's a heck of alot safer than having my daughter in some chintzy belt-positioning booster. I even had to get the dealer to get us an after market kit for the rear tether, and found it wasn't all that hard to install. I am more than happy with this purchase, and for it's price, it's a deal

Seems pretty cheap quality. I wouldn't buy another one.

I love this car seat. I love that it is much more inexpensive then the Britax and just as high quality. It is also a very safe car seat.

This is a great carseat for those who don't want to shell out $300 for a Britax, but want to keep their little ones extended a little longer. My 5 year old, 55 lb daughter has one in my mom's van and we love it. It's very easy to install and my daughter says it's comfortable, although she prefers her Regent overall. I would definitely recommend the Apex though.
